Genealogical Brick Wall
James Fleming (1869 - 1938) & Flora Osmond (1866 - 1923)
Information I have:
- James was born Nov 1869 in Ohio (probably Farmington, Trumbull, Ohio), son of Irish immigrants Patrick Fleming and Mary Clark.
- Flora was born Mar 1866 to John F. Osmond and Jerusha M. Nichols.
- James and Flora married between 1885 and 1887.
- James remarried sometime after Flora's death in 1923. His second wife was named Viola and she appears with him in the 1930 census but is not mentioned in his obituary.
- James died 28 June 1938 in a hospital in Cleveland, Cuyahoga, Ohio. He was a resident of Painesville, Lake, Ohio.
- He is buried next to Flora in an unmarked grave in Evergreen Cemetery, Painesville, Lake, Ohio.
Information I'm seeking:
- Dates and locations for births and marriages.
- Believe James may have been born in Farmington, Trumbull, Ohio.
- Date and location of marriage to Flora Osmond, which may have occurred in Painesville, Lake, Ohio.
- Date and location of marriage to Viola. It may have occurred in Painesville, Lake, Ohio.
Residences between 1880 and 1900:
- Daughter Mabel was born 1889 in Painesville, Lake, Ohio.
- WWI Draft registrations for sons Edward (1891) and Corbett (1892) show they were born in West Farmington, Trumbull, Ohio. Online Lake County Probate birth information shows later children were born in Painesville.
- 1900, 1910, 1920, and 1930 census enumerations show James Fleming and family in Painesville, Lake, Ohio.
Information on parents, siblings, and spouses:
- Death and burial information for Mary (Clark) Fleming. Her husband, Patrick, is buried at Hillside-West Cemetery, Farmington, Trumbull, Ohio. She may be buried next to him without a marker.
- Sisters Julia Fleming Watrous of Niles and Kate Fleming Litwiler of Andover and brother Paul Fleming of Youngstown are mentioned in his June 1938 obituary.
- Second wife Viola is not mentioned in James' obituary so I am wondering what became of her.
