Richard Donald Pettit

Memorial services for Richard Donald Pettit, 75, a life-long Painesville resident, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Faith Baptist Church, 3003 Narrows Road, Perry.

Mr. Pettit died May 17, 2004, at Columbus Hospital.

He was born Nov. 24, 1928, in Painesville.

He attended Painesville Township local schools and was a lifetime member of Geneva Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mr. Pettit retired from the National Guard. He received a certificate of recognition from the Secretary of Defense, the Governor of Ohio and President George W. Bush. He also had been employed at Fluid Regulators Corporation in Painesville.

Survivors are his wife, Lenories (McLaughlin) Pettit, whom he married on May 21, 1960, in Fairport Harbor; daughters, Pam, Debbra Oritz, Kathy Pettit and Barbara McElroy; sons, Ricky Pettit and Timmy Pettit; grandchildren, Natalie, Charles D. McElroy Jr., Sherry Anderson, Brittney Oritz and Mike; great-grandchildren, Gino and Lauren; and brother, Dennis Pettit.

His parents, Florence and Ralph Pettit; and brothers, David and Jack Pettit, are deceased.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday in Madison Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. Jim Lane of Faith Baptist Church in Perry will officiate at services.
