DENMARK TWP. — Paul E. Loomis, Jr., died Friday morning, December 8, 2006, at the Veterans Admini-stration Medical Center in Erie, PA.
He was born November 11, 1931, in Sherman, NY, and was a son of Paul E., Sr. and Belle Mabel (Brown) Loomis.
An Ashtabula County resident most of his life, Mr. Loomis was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army, and was a member of American Legion Post #691 in Pierpont, OH.
Paul was employed at RMI Sodium Division in Ashtabula, retiring in 1992.
He married Joyce Chandler on October 11, 1952, and together they raised seven children.
He loved carpentry and woodworking, and also enjoyed camping.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen (Tom) Johnson of Jefferson, Sherri (Sid) Lillie of Jefferson, and Brenda Stephens (Jim Durkin) of Ashtabula; four sons, Reverend Daniel (Barb) Loomis of Coshocton, OH, Paul Robert (Marilyn) Loomis of Lynchburg, VA, Reverend Roger (Lori) Loomis of Avon, OH, and Jeffery (Tamela) Loomis of Geneva, OH; two sisters, Hazel Housel of Pierpont, and Marion Porter of Ashtabula; a brother, Alvin Loomis of Ashtabula; 25 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and his dear friend, Barbara March with whom he spent his last 14 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Joyce in 1972; a sister Mabel White; and three brothers, Eugene, Robert in infancy, and Donald Loomis.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, OH, with the Reverend Ed Diehl, pastor of Pierpont Presbyterian Church, officiating. Military honors will follow the committal service.
A time of fellowship will be held following the service, at the Sheffield Fire Department Hall, 3636 Sheffield Monroe Road in Sheffield Township, Ohio.
There will be no calling hours.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the V.A. Medical Center, 135 E. 38th St., Erie, PA, 16504, to the attention of the Volunteer Office, or to the Pierpont Volunteer Fire Department. Envelopes will be available at the Marcy Funeral Home And Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, OH, which has charge of arrangements.
