Clarence W. Donley

PAINESVILLE — "Pat" Clarence W. Donley, 61, a retired Painesville City fireman, died yesterday at Metropolitan General Hospital in Pinellas Park, Fla., after a long illness.

He was born Aug. 3, 1923, in Painesville.

An Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Donley joined the fire department in 1951 and retired in 1976 as lieutenant.

He also owned and operated Lake Count Mower Service since 1948.

He had served on the zoning board of Painesville Township, and was a member of the Lake County Firefighters Association and the Historical Engine Society of Kirtland.

Survivors include his wife, Helen, H.; son and daughter-in-law, David and Jeanette Donley of Leroy; daughter, Mrs. Harry (Susan) Fritzgerald of Painesville; four grand children; sister, Clarabelle Roe of Perry and brother, Richard of Painesville.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave., Painesville. The Rev. John M. Germaine, Painesville United Methodist Church, will officiate.

Burial will be in Mentor Cemetery.

Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.

The family suggests contributions in his name to the American Heart Association.
