Donald George Buck

September 28, 1920 - July 9, 2004

Donald George Buck died peacefully at home in Paradise on July 9, 2004 surrounded by his wife and children. He was 83.

Don was born September 28, 1920 in Hazelton, North Dakota. He married Madonna Clarey in 1941 and they moved to California. He served in the United States Navy aboard LST483 in the Pacific during WWII.

Don owned gas stations in Paradise, worked on the construction of the Oroville Dam and for the Paradise Irrigation District before retiring in 1983. He and his wife Madonna traveled the country in their motor home for several enjoyable years, taking fishing trips to Alaska, going hunting in New Mexico and attending several Navy reunions. He later spent many enjoyable hours doing cross-stitch projects for his family.

Don was a faithful member of St. Thomas More Church for 42 years. He was also a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 259 and the LST national and state organizations.

Don is survived by his wife Madonna; his sons, Gerry of Scottsdale, AZ; John of Clovis and Joel of Livermore; his daughter, Diane of Wasilla, AK. He is also survived by his sister Jeanette of Tower City, ND and his brother John of Racine, WI. He was a proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 10 2004 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Thomas More School in care of Rick Priest, Principal 877-5328.

Don was a loving, caring husband and father and will be dearly missed by many.
