Note: The South Dakota delayed birth record shows Franklin and Minvera as his parents but Minerva would have been almost 55 at the time, past childbearing age. In the 1920 and 1930 censuses indicate that he was raised by his grandparents, Franklin Harrison and Minerva Carsner..Although the delayed birth record shows that he was born in Douglas County, both Franklin and Oscar Harrison had homesteads in Charles Mix County at the time of his birth. I have seen no record of the family eve rresiding in Douglas County.

The 1900 census lists him as Franklin's and Minerva's grandson and show his father's and mother's birthplace as South Dakota and Iowa,respectively. The 1910 Census indicates that Franklin and Minerva Harrison may have adopted him. The entry for his father's place of birthsays "state unknown" and mother's place of birth as South Dakota. It'spossible that Nettie (born in either Iowa or South Dakota) may be his birth mother. If that is the cas,e he is a first cousin, three times removed. Nettie was considered to be "feeble minded"; and was institutionalized in 1930.
